I was very excited to come across a version of one of my treasured possessions a tactile rendering of Warja Honegger-Lavater's Little Red Riding Hood at Bologna. This version utilizing textiles and textured paper and card to create the 2-dimensional imagery of the original. The grandmother is depicted through a knitted circle and little red through red felt, whilst the wolf was rough hairy and scratchy fabric whilst the forest is created through embossed pages. This version was published in 2009 by Published by Maeght & Les Doigts Qui Rêvent.

This is brilliant - but expensive!
ReplyDeleteThese books are hand made and they are very expensive.
DeleteI can certainly appreciate the time and effort that has gone into creating them. Not sure you'd let a child with sticky fingers (or even an adult with clean ones!) anywhere near them - which is a crying shame.
