Candela Ferdmann

 'The Joy of Eating' a very daunting mobile wolfish mouth by Argentinian illustrator Candela Ferdmann found at the wonderful Toi Gallery.

Cristina Bazzoni

An almost knitted forest of impenetrable trees and forest for Little Red Riding Hood in Cristina Bazzoni's 'Woods' available at Toi.

Bernhard Nast

Bernhard Nast's illustrations for Rotkäppchen from 1973 which I discovered through Italian illustrator Daniela Tordi.I have been unable to find anything further about Bernard Nast except that he was a German artist working in the mid 20th century.

Hans Fischer

These complex illustrations by Hans Fischer (1909-1958) of Little Red Riding Hood, I immediately recognised as being the same hand as Pitschi with their elaborate line drawings and simple washes of colour. It is wonderful to see his version complete with giant beetles and other details to wonder at and get lost in.

Hazel Jarvis

Little Red Riding Hood 1810 Chapbook.

I found myself a little over excited by this discovery (while researching in The British library) of Little Red Riding Hood in a Chapbook published in 1810 in London. Chapbooks were small pamphlets sold by peddlers door to door and at markets and fairs and were precursors today's picture books. There is no happy ending with the grandmother and little red being rescued in this early version.

Warja Honegger-Lavater II

I was very excited to come across a version of one of my treasured possessions a tactile rendering of Warja Honegger-Lavater's Little Red Riding Hood at Bologna. This version utilizing textiles and textured paper and card to create the 2-dimensional imagery of the original. The grandmother is depicted through a knitted circle and little red through red felt, whilst the wolf was rough hairy and scratchy fabric whilst the forest is created through embossed pages. This version was published in 2009 by Published by Maeght & Les Doigts Qui Rêvent.
