When things hurt, the pain always comes out in Little Red Riding Hood images for me.
Little Red Riding Hood is my vehicle of metaphor and expression, out with my daily practice and projects. This image depicts my thoughts on recent events in Europe. Little red and the wolf for me, are interchangeable as forces of evil and this Little Red (unwittingly may be) is evil.

I am a long time admirer of the work of Cathy Cullis; her beautiful textile work, paintings, prints, illustration and poetry, Cathy is a creative force. This Little Red seems fiercely dark and determined, you can buy Cathy's work here.

'Sweet' because she is made from sweets.
Last night I did a children's workshop using sweets to print and this was my demonstration piece. We had great fun making a variety of marks from different sweets like liquorice allsorts, wine gums, super sour snakes and strawberries. It was much better than eating them, though I have to say many disappeared!

Squeezed in a further monoprint collage today it has sat arranged on my desk between jobs, waiting for attention and tweaks before being secured to the paper.

I have been at a course organised by Picture Hooks at the National Galleries of Scotland all weekend, attending a workshop with George Douglas organised by Picture Hooks. The time was mostly spent monoprinting, but in the last couple of hours the monoprints we had made were constructed into collages. This is my wolf, I loved the freedom and possibilities that these media offered and its distinctly strange and surreal results, definitely a technique I will return to when I get the chance.
