Agata Juszcak

Agata Juszcak's 'The Visitation' is not specifically a Red Riding Hood image, but it's sentiment is with the dark animalistic demon and the girl.
Agata's varied use of blocks of intense colour combined with water washes and scratchy lines and detail makes her work rich and visually exciting.

Ali Boozari

It is wonderful to discover the work of Iranian illustrator and printmaker Ali Boozan ,
This is not Little Red Riding Hood though it could easily be, it is from a project called 'The goat and the wolf'.
The layered printed illustrations in contrasting colours resemble batik, but they have so many triggers of cultural association, for they also remind me of Indonesian shadow puppet performances with the inclusion of the musicians along the bottom.

A wonderful eclectic mix of media and techniques is used by Julio Antonio Blasco to illustrate Arnal Txabi's 'La Ladrona De Sellos' (The Stamp Theif) is a very original and tender sequel to the original story. I love the use of stamps print and layered sketches it is vibrant and exciting.

Cecilia Ferri

These are some of the illustrations from Italian illustrator Cecilia Ferri's book Lupus in Fabula a book of self discovery and learning to be true to yourself and move away from the constraints of the pack.

"In Lupus in Fabula, everyone has their own role, is trapped in a mask, to fulfill the expectations of others, adapting to the group, everything goes in line with expectations of the environment in which he lives, stuck in routines between home and school, feeling the social weight on the shoulders. This is symbolically represented as a mask that hides the true nature of the protagonist, a mask that is closing in on the face of his companions, that behave all the same way.The wolf embodies a double role of wild beast bringer of destruction, and at the same time initiator and bearer of knowledge.Today the wolf has a complex symbology. Is not the bad shadow that follows us in the woods, is something that we carry inside as hidden brother. It's our inner-self that reminds us that despite the social and economic superstructure built around us, we are still a product of nature, and the anxiety that we feel is the memory further and further away of our origins, we continue to stubbornly forget."
